BBQ on Father's Day 2008

It has been 2 weeks since we celebrated Father's Day. 3 great years as a father for hubby Mal. Mal has been a wonderful daddy to sunny boy, always spending time with him whenever he can, bringing him out for walks/cycling and also wiping him every nite (almost) before sunny boy sleeps. They both have a good bond and that's what matters most.

I decided to have a simple BBQ at home for Mal. We invited Mal's mom to join us. Mal and I both lost our dads to cancer years ago. So Father's Day will only always be just "us".

I didnt want to spend too much time on the hot grill, so I made skewer chicken and shrimps instead of the famous chicken wings and lamb chop. Skewer food cook much faster and are easier to digest.

List of food:
-mushroom soup (forgot to take a pix of this yummy soup)
-sandwich rolls (first time making this, and it was a disaster! throw at the wall, the wall will crack :) But luckily it's meant for dipping in the soup, so it was edible. Mom-in-law actually said it tastes good. Sunny boy enjoyed it too.
-salad with dijon and white wine vinegar dressing
-chilli lime shrimp skewers
-pineapple, mushrooms, and chicken wrapped in bacon skewers
and last of all, Mal's favourite jumbo pork hotdogs

Mal starting the fire. You didnt think we'd use a real BBQ pit did you? We are small time bbq'ers, we only use the satay grill. Works well for small amount of food.

sunny boy enjoying himself on his tricycle while waiting for his favourite shrimps in a stick

Mom-in-law looking on. hey that's me there with sunny boy :)

We managed to finish up all the food. We were stuffed actually. So anyone still have space for some delicious durian cheesecake?? I made this following the recipe in Aunty Yochana's blog. Very delicious I tell you. Everyone loved it. You should give it a try. It's easy to make. Just make sure to get good quality durians.
