Birthday Dinner at Rakuzen

We celebrated my birthday at Rakuzen Japanese Restaurant, Subang Jaya. Fyi sashimi and seafood is my #1 favourite food. I can eat raw salmon/sashimi with white rice everyday for the rest of my life :)

Our usual Japanese hang out place is Kiku Zakura at Mid Valley. This time I decided to try some other place, where it's not too far from where we live and hopefully tastes better than Kiku Zakura.

A Japanese friend of mine recommended Rakuzen for it's fresh seafood and quality food preparation.

Check out what we ordered:

Okra is complimentary. Steam egg (chawanmushi) for sunny boy which he enjoyed

my favourite... Mal and sunny boy loved the roe. Precious little pearls ;)

only this soup doesn't satisfy us. It's tasteless, kind of like drinking hot water.

this cod is perfectly grilled. The teriyaki sauce wasn't too salty (unlike in most places).

Oh boy... this one's soooo good too. Real crab meat in there, not just empty shells.

this was a little too salty for me. So I dip/wash them in the tasteless soup before eating.

Sunny boy sitting on the low table savouring the fish roe, one at a time;)

The seats on the first floor of Rakuzen are not too child friendly. You have to sit on the floor with cushions and under the table there is a sunken area for your feet. So it's really uncomfortable for sunny boy as he kept slipping off the cushion and almost fell into the hole.

There was some renovation going on next door, drilling and banging of walls. We were told that they are moving next month to a bigger premise next door. So we shall be there again to try out other great dishes.
