Our Yellow Home Is No More

February 15th 2009 was our last time in our yellow house. All keys have been passed to the new owner who are ready to move in on the 22nd Feb. Yes we managed to sell it just at the right time. The buyer is actually our left side neighbour whose old mother lives at the end of the row. The mother wants to be closer to the daughter, so that's why they decided to buy our house. A good buy it was too, we had to reduce the selling price a little bit coz we didn't want to take the risk of not being able to sell this house since times are bad.

Mal and I went in to take a last look at "our" house, memories that we have built in there for the last 3 years started to playback. Oh how we will miss this home...

my kitchen... yellow mellow, I'm gonna take those 2 free standing units with me :) As Im writing this, the 2 units are already in our rented home ;)

Mal waving bye-bye ;(

it's all empty

Notice what's left in the garden? I pulled out most of the mother's tongue plants to plant in the rented house. It all started from one stalk!

Had to leave the orange shoe cabinet behind. Custom made to my specs.... how I love it.

This bamboo tree is only 1 year old. We watched them grow from 4ft to more than 8 ft, and from 3 stalks to more than 10. I hope the new owner doesn't chop them off.

Did you wonder where sunny boy was all this while? Hmmph, he was busy playing with the buyer's 2 children in their house. Didn't even wana say goodbye to his yellow home. Had to beg him to come out from there to take a picture with us....

We are slowly getting adjusted to our rented home. I'm liking it more and more, love the spaciousness and the big garden. Hope to be able to show you some pix later...

Valentine's Day at Elcerdo Restaurant

We had a really good Valentine's dinner this year. I have read many good reviews by food bloggers on Elcerdo.... had intended to try out their most delicious suckling pig or crispy pork kunckles... but Elcerdo came up with an interesting Valentine's Day 6-course menu for RM208++ per couple, so what the heck. We can always return for the suckling pig ;)

Miss Porky welcoming us into the restaurant

I immediately felt the love in the air, seeing the heart shape cutouts on all the dining tables

While waiting for our food to arrive, sunny boy kept himself busy by colouring little piggys on the kid's menu.
What do you want? haha he purposely posed an angry face for the camera

Now let's talk about the food from the Valentine's Day menu:

excellent soup, I was sure there were big pieces of dried scallops in there :)

We ordered sunny boy's food from their kid's menu. Children below 6yrs old get to eat free. Macaroni is one of sunny boy's favourite. But this one didn't live up to his expectation. haha.... It tasted almost too bland... He enjoyed the shellfish soup very much though

So since he doesnt want the macaroni, I ordered him the sausages also from the kid's menu. Any second order from the kid's menu is charged RM12. Well this one got a thumb's up from sunny boy. I liked the creamy mashed potatoes and the 3 types of homemade pork sausages were good too.
Sausages in sunny boy's mouth

Next came our 4 types tapas. Oh man oh man.... each one was sooo delicious we wished we could have more.

Pork belly (siew-yoke) the BEST of all siew yoke in Malaysia!! The skin is so crispy and fragrant and the meat so soft. The good thing is you don't get that porky smell like some siew-yoke from chicken rice stalls. The lobster meat went so well with the fig arrope & arugula. heaven

Then came the mango with bacon?? Mango with bacon?! Are you sure? It was not bad... no it was really good too! Cold sorbet with crispy bacon. There is no fat at all when you chew into the bacon. No pork taste either.

We waited quite a while for this one to be served. I was already feeling kind of full... I'm the kind who cannot wait too long for my food to arrive at intervals. Anyhow, I managed clean my plate till the last drop of sauce. The cod was fresh and tender. The spinach (actually the regular bayam we get from the market) tasted so unlike bayam ;) The pork cheek was soft, ok only... nothing too great. Would have prefered more crispy pork belly

Last of all, the heart shaped dessert... just amazing. Unforgettable. Loved it. Sunny boy finished half of my ice-cream :( Just superb!
Not from the menu, complimentary drinks, some tequila mix drink for the couple, and fresh orange juice for sunny boy. I like the mini glass so much... like a shot glass. Cheers to a lip-smacking and memorable dinner :)
Sunny boy thinks he's drinking alcohol too... :) He was really sipping and enjoying every drop of the juice.

We will definitely be back for another great dining experience. Btw the staff were all so warm and friendly. Be sure to make a reservation before going. Their full menu can be found online here (does not include the price though)
