Happy Birthday to ME!!

Phew another year has passed again! See last year's birthday post here. A year older, wiser, grey hair by the hundreds, thousands of red dots on the skin (should I be overly concerned about this?) , and a couple more wrinkles around the eyes ;(

Oh well, I had great birthday nevertheless. It was all about food, stuffing myself silly again with my beloved food, from the sea!

But first, the cake. I made myself a durian cheesecake, delicious sweet & yellow local durian meat with cheesy cream cheese... sooo good and rich, you can only eat a tiny slice at a time.

For dinner, we went to Pantai Seafood Restaurant in P.J for lobster, which Mal promised years ago, and some juicy raw oysters :)

Boston lobster RM163 per kg. Sashimi style! The lobster was still moving when they brought the plate to us. First time eating sashimi lobster, we were like, eeerrr how to eat ah? The fella's still alive! Had to ask the waiter how to eat it.... only to be told that we eat the flesh on the ice, and the rest will be taken into the kitchen where the chef will chop them up and stir fry with yee-mee.

Fried yee-mee with lobster. Very tasty and lots of lobster flesh ;)

Raw oysters, my favourite! We had 2 each as appetizer ;) RM7 per piece

Mango chicken thai style. Mal and sunny boy loved this. Crispy chicken, sweet and sour sauce, very appetising. RM15
displayed beside the cashier are the imported, expensive live seafood. Major attraction for the children.

do you notice by now that sunny boy has a habit of tilting his head to the right? Such a poser!

Lastly, here's sunny boy singing me a birthday song in 3 languages ;) What a great improvement from last year's.

School Break #3- Genting Highlands

The third school break which lasted for 10 days was in August. We had to postpone our trip to Genting due to the H1N1, thus last weekend we drove uphill, spent two nights at Theme Park Hotel, almost froze to death, but had so much fun we might just go again very soon ;)

We spent most of our time in the outdoor and indoor theme parks. Genting Highlands is all about entertainment, if not the casino it must be the theme parks then.

Some shots from the outdoor theme park:

take a photo with the the parrots for RM15 per family

Indoor theme park:

Sunny boy loved the bumper car the most. He went on it more than 15 times in 2 days ;)
On our way home, we stopped by Goh Tong Jaya town for lunch, durians, and self-pick strawberries.
really good Musang King
self-pick strawberries RM8 per 100gm

lots of cacti being sold at the Strawberry Farm. Love them to bits ;)
Next holiday: Port Dickson!! To celebrate sunny boy's 4th birthday in November ;)

Birthday Dinner at Cava Restaurant & Bar

Cava has been one of my most favourite restaurant since 4 months ago. I wouldn't have known about this place if not for my primary school reunion which was held there, and the person who suggested Cava didn't even show up. Since then I've visited Cava 4 times, each time with a satisfying tummy and a "gosh-I-should-never-allow-myself-to-overeat-again" promise.

Then came hubby's 40th birthday, 1st August! What better place to dine with good food and wine, romantic setting, ample parking space, great friendly and efficient staffs? ;)

Let's see what we ordered that nite...

to start off, we had ....Sangria - the BEST! and the bread with olive and oil dip - really good

tapas - deep fried soft shell crabs - fried to perfection!
tapas - Poach asparagus with bearnaise sauce, a little bland in taste and the portion was way tooo small, I know it's a tapas, but still...
tapas - marsala lamb - soft and tender meat, good flavour

Main - oxtail pasta, I love this, fall-off-the-bone oxtail (doneness varies each time you order) and the sauce is just delicious ;)
Main - Sirloin with jalapeno gorgonzola sauce, to die for super yummy!!!
Main (yes another main!) - vegetarian paella, what I love about Cava's paella is their chilli padi paste. So spicy and it goes so well with the paella.

last of all, the "chocolate dream". On the house (because they knew it was hubby's birthday!) How nice huh?
Needless to say, we finished all the food and I was again satisfied with a full tummy and a "gosh-I-should-never-allow-myself-to-overeat-anymore" promise ;)

If you have not been to Cava, please do so now. ASAP!!!! Visit their website for the menu, location and phone number. It is advisable that you make a reservation on weekends.
